ALARA Top 10 Radioactive Material Movement, Control & Labeling Sign
Ensure ironclad compliance with NRC and DOE site regulations with G/O Corp’s Top 10 Radioactive Material Movement, Control and Labeling Sign. Featuring a bold purple magenta header and a prominent radiation symbol background, this high-visibility sign outlines the ten mandatory field protocols for managing Radioactive Material (RAM) and navigating Contaminated Areas (CA) and Radiological Controlled Areas (RCA).
Essential for placement at tool rooms, RCA breakout areas, waste-sorting stations, and material transfer airlocks within commercial nuclear power plants, decommissioning sites, and naval shipyards.
Complete Field Protocol List: Explicitly details critical procedural boundaries for hoses, bag sealing, container tags, and Radiation Protection (RP) survey requirements.
Maximizes Operational Safety: Acts as a vital human-error prevention tool to stop the spread of loose surface contamination into clean areas.
Industrial Grade Durability: Available in multiple standard sizes and rugged, long-lasting materials—including premium rigid plastic, high-tack adhesive vinyl, and heavy-duty aluminum.
Please choose size and material for part number.
In high-tempo environments like commercial nuclear refueling outages or naval ship overhauls, material control boundaries face constant pressure. G/O Corp’s ALARA Top 10 Radioactive Material Movement, Control and Labeling Sign (Item #GS3087) provides workers and supplemental craft personnel with an unmistakable, step-by-step reminder of health physics mandates. By making these guidelines visible at the exact points where material is packaged or transferred, facilities can dramatically reduce peer-checking failures and prevent unplanned exposure events.
This safety sign displays the fundamental protocols required within an active Radiological Controlled Area:
All hoses, cords, and cables need to be secured so they cannot be pulled into a clean area from a CA (Contaminated Area).
ALL containers need to be labeled. Containers include but are not limited to bags, buckets, barrels, cabinets, gang boxes, dumpsters, B-25 waste boxes, laundry boxes, and sea vans.
ALL bags must be sealed and labeled or tagged prior to moving in an RCA.
Everything coming out of an RCA MUST be surveyed by RP (Radiation Protection).
ONLY RP can move RAM (Radioactive Material) outside of an RCA.
Assume everything in an RCA is Radioactive.
Maintain positive control of RAM being handled or generated in order to prevent unwarranted exposure to other workers.
Notify a qualified individual for surveys to remove materials from a contaminated area.
Keep unnecessary materials out of an RCA.
Do NOT leave open bags or unlabeled material in an RCA.
Select the ideal material configuration for your specific plant footprint from the dropdown options above:
| Substrate Material | Primary Deployment Location | Engineering Protections |
| Premium Rigid Plastic | Structural wall mounting, gangbox lids, and material airlock partitions. | Shatterproof, impact-resistant, features pre-drilled corner mounting holes for quick installation. |
| Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive Vinyl | Direct application to B-25 waste boxes, sea vans, cabinets, or smooth containment doors. | Heavy-duty, high-tack adhesive backing that resists moisture, peeling, and chemical washdowns. |
| Heavy-Duty Aluminum | Outdoor radwaste storage yards, loading docks, and exterior marine shipyard fencing. | 100% rust-free, maximum wind-load durability, finished with a UV-stable laminate to prevent fading. |
